Sleep in Your RV at These Ski Areas + Other Places to Camp

Last updated: February 21, 2025

To aid in your winter road trip, we’ve put together a list of ski resorts that allow overnight RV parking in North America, plus other places to camp. (Sorry, we don’t know anything about the East yet.) We’ve spent a lot of time scouring the internet, contacting ski areas, and scoping out physical locations since the 2018/19 season.

Taking a road trip in a van or RV is a great way to take advantage of a multi-resort ski pass, cross mountains off your bucket list, and see other parts of the country.

However, planning a winter road trip can be tricky. Many boondocking options are inaccessible due to snow and mud. Most RV parks and campgrounds near ski areas are closed. And only a handful of ski areas allow RVers and van lifers to camp overnight. For those who like to stealth camp, parking on local streets is more difficult during snowstorms when plows are clearing the roads.

While we’re doing our best to keep the provided information up-to-date, please do your own due diligence to ensure a stress-free van life winter road trip. If you have more current information, please contact us.
