Angel Fire RV Resort Review – Luxury Camping + 3 Ski Resorts
Angel Fire RV Resort is the perfect home base for skiing three resorts along northern New Mexico’s Enchanted Circle Scenic Byway. Angel Fire Resort is only 10 minutes away, Red River Ski & Summer Recreation Area is 40 minutes, and the drive to TAOS is one hour.
This luxury RV park became one of our favorites in February 2020. The front desk staff is super friendly just like every New Mexican we’ve met in the state. You’ll likely have very few RV neighbors in the winter and the shower and laundry facilities are immaculate. AT&T cell service works well here and the resort also offers free WiFi.
This place is pricey though, and they no longer participate in Passport America which gave us 50% off in 2020. In January 2024, it was going to run us over $100 per night to stay there. It was hard to justify the nightly cost.
Important notes if you go to Angel Fire RV Resort
- The RV resort is not within walking distance to Angel Fire Resort for skiing and there is no shuttle. It’s a 10-minute drive and services like Uber and Lyft do not operate here.
- Their website states that you need to have a fifth wheel or motorhome with an indoor bathroom and kitchen to stay there. And when they say motorhome, I think they mean Class A. However, if you don’t meet the requirements, you’re encouraged to call (855) 421-0308. Our converted 2021 Mercedes Sprinter van technically doesn’t qualify. However, when we stopped by in January 2024, they looked at our van and were willing to make an exception for us.
- Make sure you don’t get overcharged using their washers and dryers. At first, I was excited because the machines take credit cards, but I didn’t find them to be user-friendly. Looking at my credit card statement later, I was charged for almost three times more wash and dry cycles than I actually completed. Perhaps it was user error and maybe by now, it’s a non-issue.
- The resort is exposed and susceptible to wind. Temperatures came close to -20 with wind chill during our 2020 stay, right when our diesel heater started acting up. Angel Fire is one of the coldest places we have visited since hitting the road in 2018. If you’re not winterized, make sure your water and sewer system are protected.
- You cannot pay for showers as a non-guest. I inquired when we stopped by in January 2024, and the answer was no.
