Powder Alliance Spring Skiing and Resort Closing Dates – 2023/24

Spring Equinox is in a couple of days on March 19, and ski season is starting to wind down in North America. However, we’re still aiming for 15 more days of skiing and riding to give us a total of 45 days this season.

We want to hit as many resorts as possible before they close while minimizing the number of miles we have to drive. And if we can target the mountains with the best coverage, that’s preferable.

This season, we have the Indy+ Pass and Ski Cooper Pass (with Powder Alliance and other partner resort benefits).

To help us and you, I’ve compiled a list of all Powder Alliance resorts, including their projected closing dates and current snow depths.

I’ve also shared some of our favorite spring skiing road trip ideas using Powder Alliance benefits.

And for those that don’t have a top-tier season pass to a Powder Alliance resort this season, I’ve included amazing spring pass deals that you should know about.

Projected closing dates for Powder Alliance resorts in North America

The table below provides projected closing dates and current snow depths for all Powder Alliance resorts in the US and Canada, as well as links to where I found the information.

Some notes about the data

Snow depth numbers were pulled from each ski resort’s website. Snow depths are measured at the base, mid-mountain, and/or summit, but some resorts don’t specify where their measurement comes from at all. For more information about where a snow depth was measured, follow the link provided.

If snow depth shows N/A, that means I couldn’t find any snow depths on the ski area’s website, but follow the link for the best information about current conditions.

All dates are subject to change. If you plan on traveling, please contact the ski resort first to ensure they will be open when you arrive. Depending on weather, it’s also possible some of these ski areas will extend their closing dates.

Spring operation changes at Powder Alliance resorts

Since days are longer in spring, some ski areas will extend their lift operating hours. Following are changes I happened to notice, but check ski resort websites for the most up-to-date operation changes.

Our favorite spring skiing road trip ideas using Powder Alliance

  • Resorts in Mount Hood, Oregon – I love that Mt. Hood Skibowl operates from 12 pm to 8 pm during spring. And Timberline is a pretty sure bet for snow coverage given their regular ten-month operating schedule. If you have also have an Indy Pass, you get two days at Mt. Hood Meadows who is staying open until May 18! Don’t have an Indy Pass? The Meadows Spring Pass is $269 for adults. All three ski areas are within minutes of each other. Plus, sleeping in your van around Mount Hood is pretty easy making it the perfect spot for a spring skiing road trip. Check out our full guide to Mount Hood.
  • Resorts in California – California ski areas typically have enough snow to carry them into mid-April and sometimes even May. Plus, the sunshine state has some of the best spring skiing weather for stripping down and getting a head start on your beach tan. Six California ski resorts from the top of the state to the bottom participate in Powder Alliance which would make a great two-week road trip. Mt. Shasta, Bear Valley, Dodge Ridge, and China Peak all allow overnight RV camping for a fee.
  • Bogus Basin in Idaho – Last year might’ve been an exception because many ski areas in the west experienced record-breaking snowfall, but in April, Bogus still had more than sufficient coverage off-piste. With 2,600 skiable acres, there was a lot of mountain to explore in spring. Plus, Bogus allows free overnight RV camping for any rig that can fit in a single parking space.
  • Loveland in Colorado – We’ve been to Loveland during their closing week in May twice. Both times, their mountain had most trails open with ample coverage. No dirt skiing.
